Quick answers

How much does it cost?
Couple Photoshoot starts from CHF 390. The final price depends on the place, duration, date, time of day, travel and any add-ons such as video, and is stated in your proposal before you book.
How long does it take?
A typical session lasts 1 hour and you receive around 40 edited photos.
What is included?
  • A short planning exchange about the place, time of day and the style you like
  • A route chosen for light and crowds at your hour, usually two or three spots close together
  • Posing guidance that feels natural: walking, talking, small prompts rather than stiff poses
  • Professional editing of a curated selection (the starting package is around 60 minutes)
Where does it take place?
Popular places include Zurich, Lucerne, Interlaken, Zermatt, and Geneva. Your photographer suggests the best spot for your date, the light and the crowds.
Who is it for?
  • Couples travelling in Switzerland who want photographs with both of them in them
  • Anniversaries, birthdays and trips that mark a milestone
  • Residents who want a session in their own city before a move or a new chapter
  • Couples who feel awkward in front of a camera and want clear direction
How does booking work?
Send a free request with your place, date and plans. Alpiora checks which photographers are available and replies with a proposal stating the photographer, the package and the exact price. Nothing is booked until you accept.

Most couples who book a shoot in Switzerland are on a trip they have been planning for a long time, and have spent it taking photos of each other. A couple session fixes that: an hour or more with someone whose job is to find the angle, watch the light and tell you where to stand, so both of you are in the frame.

You do not need a reason. Anniversaries, a first trip abroad together, a move to Zurich or Geneva, or simply wanting good photographs of the two of you are all common. If a ring is involved, see proposal photography; if a wedding is coming, an engagement session is planned slightly differently.

Alpiora does not employ photographers. We match you with an independent professional who has been reviewed for portfolio, experience with couples, languages and local knowledge, and we send you a proposal with their name, package and price before anything is booked. See pricing for how starting prices work.

How it works

  1. 1

    Send a free availability request

Tell us the date or date range, the place and roughly what you have in mind. It is free and places you under no obligation.

  2. 2

We match you with a photographer

We check which reviewed photographers are free for that place and time and reply personally, with questions if something would change the plan (for example, a lift closed for maintenance).

  3. 3

    You receive a proposal

The proposal names the photographer, the duration, what is included, the price and the payment terms. The delivery time for your photographs is stated there too.

  4. 4

Confirm and meet on the day

The booking is confirmed when you accept. The photographer contacts you to fix the meeting point and adjusts the timing if the weather forecast calls for it.

Where the session happens

City sessions work in every season and keep the price at the starting level: the lanes and covered bridges of Lucerne, the lake promenade and Lindenhof in Zurich, or the Old Town of Geneva. For water and vineyards, the terraces of Lavaux run down to Lake Geneva and local trains stop at the wine villages. Mountain settings such as Zermatt or Lauterbrunnen start from CHF 650 because they involve more travel and usually 90 minutes. Preparation tips

  • Book the first hour after sunrise or the last before sunset. In late June the sun sets after 21:00; in December it is gone before 17:00.
  • Choose outfits in mid-tones that go together without matching. Avoid large logos and fine stripes, which flicker in photographs.
  • Old towns mean cobbles and mountains mean gravel. Bring shoes you can walk in and change for close portraits if you like.
  • At altitude, bring a warm layer even in August; you can take it off for the photographs.
  • Mountain lifts often close for maintenance in spring and November. Check the operator timetable before fixing a mountain date.
  • Leave a buffer after the shoot. Couples who rush to a dinner reservation tend to look like it.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a couple photoshoot in Switzerland cost?

A couple photoshoot through Alpiora starts from CHF 390 for about an hour in a city such as Zurich or Lucerne. In Alpine locations the starting price is CHF 650. The final price depends on the photographer, date, time of day, duration and add-ons, and is stated in your proposal before you book.

How long should our couple session be?

For one place, 60 minutes is enough for two or three settings and a relaxed pace. In the mountains or when you want sunset plus blue hour, 90 minutes works better. Two separate places on the same day are offered as a multi-location session from CHF 850.

We are not comfortable in front of a camera. Will that show?

Most couples say this before their session. The photographer directs you with small, concrete prompts (walk towards me, look at each other, fix his collar) so that you react rather than pose. The first ten minutes are usually the stiffest and are rarely the photos you end up keeping.

What happens if it rains?

Light rain can work well with umbrellas and covered spots, such as the wooden bridges in Lucerne or the arcades of Bern. If the forecast is poor, the photographer will suggest a new time or date. The exact rescheduling and cancellation terms are set out in your proposal.

Which language will the photographer speak?

Each photographer lists their languages on their profile, and we take your language into account when matching. English is common; German, French and Italian depend on the region and the person. Say in your request which languages you are comfortable with.

Can we book a sunrise session?

Yes, and it is often the quietest time at popular places. Very early starts may carry a surcharge, which is shown in your proposal. In the mountains, check that the first train or lift runs early enough to reach your chosen spot.
