Quick answers
- How much does it cost?
- Honeymoon Photography in Interlaken starts from CHF 650. The final price depends on the place, duration, date, time of day, travel and any add-ons such as video, and is stated in your proposal before you book.
- How long does it take?
- A typical session lasts 1 h 30 min and you receive around 60 edited photos.
- What is included?
- A planning exchange about your hotel, the length of your stay and which viewpoint you want for the light
- Around 90 minutes of photography across two or three settings
- Relaxed direction rather than stiff posing, with room for candid moments
- Professional editing of a curated selection of photographs
- Where does it take place?
- Popular places include Your hotel terrace on the Höheweg; Höhematte meadow; Aare quays and Unterseen; Harder Kulm by funicular. Your photographer suggests the best spot for your date, the light and the crowds.
- When is the best time?
- The Jungfrau lies south of town, side-lit in the morning and warm in the evening, but the valley floor loses direct sun to the ridges well before official sunset, so the classic plan starts near the hotel about two hours before sunset and ends on Harder Kulm for the last light.
- How does booking work?
- Send a free request with your place, date and plans. Alpiora checks which photographers are available and replies with a proposal stating the photographer, the package and the exact price. Nothing is booked until you accept.
Interlaken is where most Jungfrau-region honeymoons are based, and it earns that role for a shoot too: a mountain meadow, a fast green river, a small old town and a funicular to a two-lake panorama all sit within a fifteen-minute walk of the grand hotels on the Höheweg. Few honeymoon stops let a photographer change the whole backdrop this often without a car.
Most couples book the session early in their stay, at the hotel where they are sleeping at least two nights, so a change of weather still leaves a second evening free. Some wear part of the wedding outfit; most simply wear what they are travelling in. The plan is usually a short walk from the hotel through town, then a lift or boat to a viewpoint for the last light.
This page covers Interlaken specifically. For the wider honeymoon route through Switzerland, see the honeymoon photography hub; for more on the town itself, our Interlaken location guide goes further into spots and seasons.
Where the session happens
- 01
Your hotel terrace on the Höheweg
Several of the grand hotels along the Höheweg face the Höhematte and the Jungfrau directly, and a terrace or balcony makes an easy, private first frame before you have walked anywhere. The photographer checks with the hotel beforehand, since terraces are guest space rather than public ground.
Best time: Shortly after breakfast, while the meadow below is still quiet
- 02
Höhematte meadow
The open lawn in the centre of town lines the Jungfrau up between the trees at its southern end, and there is enough grass to walk, sit or simply stand without competing with paragliders landing nearby during the day.
Best time: Early morning for an empty meadow; late afternoon for warm light on the peak
- 03
Aare quays and Unterseen
The river running between the two lakes turns green-turquoise on sunny days, and the footbridges give water on both sides for closer, quieter portraits. Across the river, the small square of Unterseen adds an old-town backdrop for a second look.
Best time: Late afternoon, when the water colour is strongest
- 04
Harder Kulm by funicular
At 1,322 m the platform above town looks south to the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau with Lake Thun on one side and Lake Brienz on the other. In 2026 the funicular runs from 3 April to 29 November, with evening rides from 18 April to 25 October, so a sunset finish is possible for most of the honeymoon season.
Best time: The last hour before sunset
- 05
Lake Brienz by boat
A short crossing towards Bönigen or Iseltwald puts you on deck with turquoise water on every side, which reads as a honeymoon photograph in a way a shoreline shot rarely does. BLS boats run the lake from 3 April to 6 December 2026.
Best time: Late morning or early evening sailings, when the boat is less full
- 06
A second valley as a longer session
Couples who want more than one setting often add Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald, both under 25 minutes away by train, as a multi-location session from CHF 850.
Best time: Morning in the second valley, afternoon back in Interlaken
Typically included
- A planning exchange about your hotel, the length of your stay and which viewpoint you want for the light
- Around 90 minutes of photography across two or three settings
- Relaxed direction rather than stiff posing, with room for candid moments
- Professional editing of a curated selection of photographs
- A private online gallery with high-resolution downloads for personal use
- Optional extras quoted in the proposal: sunrise, extra time, video, a second valley
Preparation
- Book the session at the hotel where you are staying at least two nights, so a poor forecast leaves a second evening.
- Bring a warm layer for Harder Kulm; it is noticeably cooler at 1,300 m, even in July.
- Choose mid-tones or soft colours, which stand out against green meadow and turquoise water.
- Avoid wearing turquoise yourselves if the Aare or Lake Brienz is on the route.
- If you bring the wedding outfit, plan how you will carry it between the hotel and the meadow.
- Check the last funicular down from Harder Kulm for your date before booking dinner.
Time of day
The Jungfrau lies south of town, side-lit in the morning and warm in the evening, but the valley floor loses direct sun to the ridges well before official sunset, so the classic plan starts near the hotel about two hours before sunset and ends on Harder Kulm for the last light. Couples who prefer sunrise get an almost empty Höhematte before 9.00, with softer, cooler light and no paragliders overhead yet.
Weather
Interlaken sits lower than the valleys around it, so a grey morning in town does not rule out clear peaks higher up, and the reverse also happens. Summer afternoons often build cloud over the mountains, which affects the Jungfrau view from Höhematte more than the Aare or Unterseen. If rain is forecast, the photographer can move the session to a better hour or work under the arcades in Unterseen; how rescheduling works is stated in your proposal.
Getting there
Most honeymoon hotels sit near Interlaken West, a few minutes from the Höhematte and the Aare. Interlaken Ost is the starting point for the Harderbahn and the Lake Brienz boats; the funicular’s valley station is a short walk across the Aare from there. Bönigen is a short bus ride or the first stop on the Lake Brienz boats. Direct trains from Bern take about 50 minutes, so a photographer can reach either station without you needing to travel far from your hotel.

Plan My PhotoshootFrequently asked questions
How much does a honeymoon photoshoot in Interlaken cost?
Sessions start from CHF 650 for about 90 minutes, which matches Interlaken’s Alpine starting price of CHF 650. Sunrise starts, extra time, video and a second valley such as Lauterbrunnen raise the total, and everything is listed in your proposal before you book.
When during our stay should we book the session?
Early in the stay, at the hotel where you are sleeping at least two nights. That leaves a spare evening if the weather turns, and you still look rested rather than travel-worn. Avoid your arrival day and any day with a long mountain excursion planned.
Sunrise or sunset in Interlaken?
Sunrise gives an almost empty Höhematte and cooler, softer light on the Jungfrau. Sunset gives Harder Kulm and alpenglow over both lakes, but the funicular’s evening rides only run from 18 April to 25 October in 2026, so check the season for your date.
Can we add a boat or a second valley?
Yes. A crossing on Lake Brienz towards Bönigen or Iseltwald fits inside a 90-minute session, and a second valley such as Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald is quoted as a multi-location session from CHF 850. Mention the idea when you request availability.
What should we wear for a honeymoon shoot in Interlaken?
Something comfortable to walk in, in mid-tones or soft colours, plus a warm layer for Harder Kulm. If you bring the wedding outfit, plan the route between your hotel and the meadow, since a long dress on gravel paths needs a little care.
What if it rains during our stay?
Light rain photographs well under the arcades in Unterseen and along the Aare. In heavier rain the photographer suggests another time within your stay, and how rescheduling works is stated in your proposal, which is another reason to book early in your visit.
Is Interlaken a good honeymoon base compared with Lucerne or Zermatt?
Interlaken sits between two lakes with a mountain meadow and a funicular viewpoint in walking distance, which suits couples who want variety without much travel. Honeymoon photography in Lucerne adds an old town and lake steamers, and honeymoon photography in Zermatt centres on the Matterhorn; many couples visit more than one stop on the same trip.
