A typical session lasts 30 min and you receive around 20 edited photos.
What is included?
  • A short message exchange about your style, outfits and plans

  • Around 30 minutes of photography at the solo starting price

How does booking work?
Send a free request with your place, date and plans. Alpiora checks which photographers are available and replies with a proposal stating the photographer, the package and the exact price. Nothing is booked until you accept.

Travelling alone in Switzerland gives you a phone full of mountains and almost no photos of yourself, apart from arm’s-length selfies and the odd shot a stranger took with your thumb in the corner. A solo session fixes that in half an hour.

It also works as a short guided walk. The photographer knows which bridge is quiet at 8 in the morning, where the light falls on the old town in the evening and which viewpoint is worth the extra train. Many solo travellers book it on the first day of a trip, then use what they learn for the rest of it.

You do not need to know how to pose. Most people who book this have never been photographed professionally, and directing you is part of the job: where to stand, what to do with your hands, when to walk and when to look away from the camera.

How it works

Your edited images arrive in a private online gallery. The delivery time is stated in your proposal.

Where the session happens

Cities suit a 30-minute session best, because everything is within a short walk. In Lucerne, the Chapel Bridge and the riverside are quietest early in the morning, before day-trip groups arrive; the Lucerne photo guide has more. In Zurich, the Lindenhof terrace looks over the Limmat to the old town, and how visitors choose a photographer in Zurich covers the rest. For mountain scenery, Lauterbrunnen puts the Staubbach Falls behind you in the village itself, and the lakes above Zermatt reflect the Matterhorn on still mornings. In Alpine places sessions start from CHF 650 for 90 minutes, which leaves time to reach a viewpoint.

Preparation tips

  • Book the session early in your trip so you can use the photographer’s local tips afterwards.
  • Bring two outfits at most in a small bag; changing takes time out of a 30-minute session.
  • Plain colours photograph better than logos or busy prints, especially against snow or water.
  • If you are nervous, say so. It changes how the photographer works, not the result.
  • Choose a meeting point in a public place near your hotel or the station.
  • Check your photographer’s languages on their profile; directing is easier in a language you think in.
  • For well-known spots, early morning means fewer people in your background.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a solo travel photoshoot in Switzerland cost?

Solo sessions start from CHF 250 for about 30 minutes and around 20 edited photos. In Alpine places such as Zermatt or Lauterbrunnen the starting price is CHF 650 for about 90 minutes. Longer sessions, sunrise times and extra locations are priced in your proposal; see pricing.

I don’t know how to pose. Is that a problem?

No. Most solo clients have never had a professional shoot, and the photographer directs you the whole time. You will mostly be walking, looking at the view and reacting, and the posed moments are short and clearly explained.

Is 30 minutes enough?

For one location in a city, yes: it gives you around 20 edited photos in two or three settings close together. If you want several parts of a city or a viewpoint that needs a train or cable car, a longer session is the better choice.

Is it safe to meet a photographer alone?

Photographers on Alpiora are reviewed before joining, and your proposal names the photographer you will meet. Choose a public meeting point such as a station, hotel lobby or bridge, and share the plan with someone at home if that makes you comfortable.

Can the photos be used on social media or a dating profile?

Yes, personal use is included, which covers social media, profile pictures and prints. Commercial use, for a brand or business, is a different service: see content creation photoshoots.

Do I have to pay the pier fee in Iseltwald?

Yes. Access to the well-known pier in Iseltwald has been through a turnstile with a fee of around five Swiss francs since 2023, payable by coin or card; check the current amount on arrival. Your photographer will tell you if they also need a ticket.
